We are excited to share that Sivakumar Murugadoss, PhD, from NILU (Norwegian Institute for Air Research), represented PROPLANET at the renowned EUROTOX 2024 conference, held in Copenhagen from September 8–11, 2024. This prestigious event brings together leading toxicology experts from across Europe and beyond to discuss critical advancements in the field of toxicology and human health.
During the conference, Dr. Murugadoss played a pivotal role by teaching a highly relevant Continuing Education Course (CEC) on Adverse Outcome Pathways (AOPs), a vital framework for understanding the mechanisms by which toxic substances induce harmful effects on living organisms. His course provided in-depth knowledge on how AOPs help bridge the gap between molecular-level interactions and the broader public health risks associated with environmental chemicals. This teaching session was well-received and served as a platform to engage with researchers and policymakers on the importance of AOPs in regulatory science and risk assessment.
In addition to the course, Dr. Murugadoss presented an insightful poster titled “Development of Adverse Outcome Pathways for Cardiotoxicity Induced by Environmental Chemicals.” This research focuses on identifying and mapping the pathways that lead to cardiotoxicity—a harmful effect on the heart caused by exposure to certain environmental chemicals. By pinpointing these pathways, the research aims to improve our understanding of how such toxicological effects occur, aiding in the development of safer chemicals and products.
