The PROPLANET Project was proudly represented at the Safety and Sustainability by Design (SSbD) Workshop, organised by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) on 28 October 2025. The event gathered experts from across Europe to exchange experiences, best practices, and methodologies for implementing the SSbD framework in research and innovation.
Project partners from the National Institute of Chemistry (Kemijski inštitut), IDENER.AI, and NILU – Norwegian Institute for Air Research attended the workshop on behalf of PROPLANET, contributing to discussions on how advanced computational tools and artificial intelligence can accelerate the transition toward safer and more sustainable materials.
During the session, the PROPLANET team presented the project’s integrated approach to developing PFAS-free coatings for textiles, food packaging, and glass applications, all designed in full alignment with SSbD principles and circular economy objectives. By leveraging AI-driven predictive modeling and life cycle assessment methodologies, the project is creating innovative coating formulations that maintain performance while minimising environmental and health impacts.
Participation in this workshop provided a valuable opportunity for PROPLANET to exchange knowledge with other EU-funded initiatives, strengthen collaboration, and contribute to shaping a common European understanding of how SSbD can be effectively implemented across the materials and manufacturing sectors.
