4th PROPLANET Streaming Event Highlights Advances in PFAS-Free Coatings

On 5 March 2026, the PROPLANET Project successfully held its 4^th Streaming Event, bringing together researchers, industry representatives, and sustainability experts in an online session dedicated to the theme “PFAS-Free by Design: Advancing Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) for a Safer Tomorrow.”

The event served as a platform to discuss the transition toward safer and more sustainable coating technologies, with a particular focus on replacing PFAS-based materials with innovative alternatives that maintain performance while reducing environmental and health risks. Through a series of expert presentations and discussions, participants explored how Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) principles can guide the development of next-generation materials from the earliest stages of research and innovation.

During the session, speakers addressed key regulatory and legal developments related to PFAS, highlighting the growing importance of compliance and responsible material design as European regulations continue to evolve.
