On February 6th, 2025, the IRISS – International SSbD Network hosted a highly insightful webinar focused on Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) Industry Case Studies, bringing together researchers, policymakers, and industry professionals to explore how SSbD principles are being applied in real-world settings.
The session featured presentations from key institutions, including the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission and Cefic (The European Chemical Industry Council). Both organisations provided valuable perspectives, sharing their latest findings, experiences, and recommendations for how industries can better integrate SSbD into their innovation processes.
Throughout the webinar, participants had the opportunity to learn from practical case studies, understand how SSbD approaches are evolving, and engage with experts on the challenges and opportunities of designing safer and more sustainable chemicals, materials, and products from the outset.
Events like this continue to highlight the importance of collaboration across sectors to ensure that innovation and sustainability go hand in hand. We look forward to seeing how the insights shared during this webinar will help shape the future direction of SSbD practices in Europe and beyond.
