BIOECONOMY for Change Webinar on PFAS & Bio-Based Solutions

Today, the PROPLANET Project was pleased to take part in the “PFAS & Bioeconomy” webinar, hosted by BIOECONOMY for Change. This event brought together stakeholders from across research, policy, and industry to discuss the urgent challenges posed by PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), and to explore potential bio-based alternatives and PFAS-free solutions.

As part of the webinar, the PROPLANET consortium had the opportunity to present an overview of our work, including:

• The concept and aims of the PROPLANET Project
  
• The types of PFAS materials we are focusing on
• The applications where we seek to implement safer alternatives
• How we are applying the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) framework within the project
• Key results to date and possible implementation pathways

Our participation in this webinar helped highlight how PROPLANET is contributing to the broader effort to reduce dependency on hazardous substances and move toward more sustainable chemical solutions in line with European Green Deal objectives.
